This summer I am commuting a lot between work and home. Yesterday, I arrived two minutes late to the bus station, but I managed to see the bus moving, so I ran as fast as I could to catch it. Although I made it to the bus, the driver didn’t stop because that particular place wasn’t an actual stop. For a moment, I didn’t know what to do, but then I remembered that the next stop wasn’t too far. So I started running in flip flops with my bag and jacket on. The bus driver saw me running, and the other people driving saw me too. When I was approximately 50 meters away from the stop, the bus just passed it, and it didn’t wait for me. It was going to start raining, it had been a long day and I needed to make it home for an online class, so my eyes started tearing up while I was walking to find another solution to make it home.
After some minutes, a car that passed me when I was running came back to where I was. The driver said, “come in, we will help you, no worries...”
I was so shocked and thankful in that moment. They saw me struggling and took some time from their lives to help a stranger. We had a great conversation in the car. One could definitely tell that they were a beautiful family. They asked me about my country of origin, my family, what I was doing in the city, etc. And they took me home.
This experience reminded me of the many inspiring things I have encountered in life.
There has always been someone willing to help me out, which makes me feel truly thankful. This is why I thought that sharing this experience with the world would serve as a way of celebrating their kindness.
